ARTERIJA – An open-air public creative space of Vilnius Academy of Arts Kaunas Faculty, a member of the “Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022” programme. The location of the creative space ARTERIJA – V. Kuzmos g., Kaunas (between the buildings Muitinės g. 2 and Muitinės g. 4 of VAA KF). ARTERIJA will accompany you throughout the entire term of “Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022”!

WHO ARE THE AUTHORS OF ARTERIJA?
The exhibits at ARTERIJA are created by the students of Vilnius Academy of Arts Kaunas Faculty and other art schools as well as lecturers, professional artists, gathering into creative clusters.

HOW ARE IDEAS BORN?
Two idea workshops took place in 2021 at ARTERIJA: Creative workshop of Architecture Department of Vilnius Academy of Arts Kaunas faculty (12 creative clusters, approx. 90 students in total) and international creative workshop (5 creative clusters, approx. 20 students).

The results: the great library of ideas for the authors of exhibits at ARTERIJA, while every student participant of the previous year's workshop may join this year.

WHAT UNITES THE IDEAS?A silent, not one, but overarching theme at ARTERIJA is human and creative work. A human is not just blood and body. A human is its thoughts to the past and present, connecting the vastness of space and depths of the oceans, its dreams and unbound creativity. At the same time, a human is the basis of European culture and the philosophical epicentre. It builds worlds and the worlds are built around it. „Cogito ergo sum“ (I think, therefore I am), says René Descartes. „I see, I hear, I feel and create, therefore I am“, says ARTERIJA.
